Fall in GCSE Maths and English pass rates.

The overall pass rate for English dropped 1.7 percentage points to hit 60.2 this summer, the worst result since 2004, while 58.3 per cent of all pupils across the UK passed their maths GCSE this year, down from 59.5 per cent last year

It’s deeply concerning to read these statistics, 40% of our young people are not achieving Grade 4 passes in English and Mathematics, in some state schools these percentages will be even higher. This is undoubtedly a testament to a lack of teaching staff (particularly maths teachers), large class sizes, poor behaviour and underfunding in the state sector. It’s also important to note that there’s a shortage of high quality maths teachers in the private sector too, this is evidenced by the number of parents with children in private schools who are seeking seeking out additional tutoring. So if you want your child to achieve their academic potential you need to invest in private tuition.
